9 Best AI Songs That Sound Like The Real Thing (2023)

Best AI songs

Paul McCartney–British musician, singer, songwriter and a member of the renowned boy band “The Beatles” created the last Beatles song “Now And Then” with the help of AI.

New research from Ditto Music (music distribution company) has revealed that 60% of artists are already using AI to create music, while 47% are inclined towards artificial intelligence (AI) for songwriting in the future. But, what is AI music and how is it created?

7 Best AI Songs

1. Heart on My Sleeve

Heart on my Sleeve was created by an AI model called Jukebox (developed by OpenAI) which simulates The Weeknd and Justin Beiber singing about Selena Gomez. Jukebox is a neural net that generates music, including rudimentary singing as raw audio. The song was written and produced by TikTok user ghostwriter977.

2. Daddy’s Car

Daddy’s Car is a song arranged and produced by Benoît Carré, and composed in the style of The Beatles by Sony’s Flow Machines project in Paris. Flow Machines generates melodies and harmonies using deep learning algorithms on a large database of songs.

3. Break Free – The First AI-Composed Pop Song

The song was sung by Taryn Southern, an American singer and an AI music platform Amper Music, that creates and customizes original music using preference and mood.

4. I Adore You

I Adore You is a song produced by Mubert–generative music app which creates unique soundtracks for various activities and scenarios eg: meditation, workout or sleep.

5. The Ballad of Mr. Shadow

SKYGGE, a group of musicians and researchers who explore the potential of AI music created this song. The song features vocals from NSynth, an AI system which can synthesize new sounds from existing ones.

6. Relentless Doppelganger

This song is a constant livestream song generated by an AI band Dadabots, which utilizes recurrent neural networks to create death metal music based on a combination of songs by various bands.

7. AI Lullaby

AI Lullaby is a song composed by Edel–an app which creates personalized sounds to accentuate focus, relaxation and sleep especially in babies.

The song features vocals from Grimes, a Canadian musician and artist, who collaborated with Endel to create a soothing soundscape for babies and adults.

8. Hey There Delilah

Kanye West never actually sang “Hey There Delilah,” but you’d think he did if you listen to the AI-generated cover online. Elena Siniscalco discusses how this is a game-changer for the music industry.

After Kanye’s controversial remarks, his music has been hard to enjoy for some. But now, AI is remixing his voice to sing popular hits like “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s. These AI creations use Kanye’s past work to mimic his voice convincingly.

9. I Feel It Coming – Michael Jackson Ai

What is AI Music?

AI music, also called artificial intelligence music, is a piece of machine-learning music generated using algorithms that can learn from past data and simulate music composition, performance, theory, digital sound processing, and curation.

AI music companies like AI Duet and Flow Machines are introducing the music revolution by providing AI-assisted music creation tools, copyright authorization, remote team collaboration, automated mastering processing, and distribution to over 150 streaming platforms.

The good thing is, AI Music has yet to develop. Researchers at the University of York have claimed that AI-generated music is inferior to human-composed music and needs improvement.

The 50 participants chosen had a deepened musical knowledge and were made to listen to various pieces–some composed by humans and others created by artificial neural networks (ANNs). The listeners weren’t aware of the source of the music and had to rate it based on 6 musical aspects:

  • Style
  • Beauty
  • Repetition
  • Melody
  • Harmony
  • Rhythm

Dr Tom Collins, one of the authors of the study and a member of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of York, said:

“On analysis, the ratings for human-composed excerpts are significantly higher and stylistically more successful than those for any of the systems responsible for computer-generated excerpts,”

How Does AI-Generated Music Work

At one point it does seem like witchcraft, reviving dead voices or even imitating other voices but technology is no less than that (I hope I don’t get canceled).

The song “Now and Then” was created using a demo with John Lennon’s voice from his 1978 track. Later, his vocals were separated from the background instrument using an AI program that cleaned up the sound for a new track.

Mccartney “extricated” Lennon’s vocals from the told sample using AI to make a new song with the assistance of Peter Jackson–An AI-based “de-mixing” technology.

AI music works over deep learning algorithms that can process data in the way humans do but it must be fed with lots of training data for example music samples, composition, and processing.

These AI music generators analyze the dataset to identify patterns and create music similar to that information either the way humans make or craft their own style!

According to Market.US, the global generative AI in Music Market is expected to grow from 229 million in 2022 to 2660 million by 2032. Some AI music companies are Amper Music, Google’s Magenta, OpenAI Jukebox.
